Goals: spending limit of ≤$200 per coin, fill every spot in this set with NGC graded MS65 or higher, classic brown label, photos of both sides of every coin, and detailed written descriptions and statical facts about each coin.
As of October 29, 2024 I have filled in every single spot in this set, meaning I have completed the business strike Franklin collection (basics, FBLs, but no proofs or varieties). This is the second collection/set I have completed/filled, the first being the mintmark-free American Silver Eagle set where I am ranked #44.
This is a fun series to collect because despite relatively large production numbers there are very few coins in the top grades which makes finding one extra exciting. While I don't have any "top pop" graded coins in this set(I have one in the sets which include Franklin varieties) I have a number that are in the numerical grade just below the top grade. One particular MS66 Franklin I have is one of only 44 graded MS66 and just 5 coins are graded higher! 49 coins is a small population for a coin that was one of millions minted that year (though on average each mintage has ~7,000-15,000 coins graded by NGC).
Thanks for visiting! Be sure to check out my #3 ranked non-FBL mintmark-free Silver Eagle set and my collection of mint state Franklins--my #11 ranked Silver Eagle collection in the basics, FBL, and varieties set and my #40 ranked complete set of mintmark-free Silver Eagles.
