Goals: Fill all 35 spots in this set (completed 7/25), spending limit of ≤$200 per coin, NGC graded, classic brown label, ideally MS65 or higher, photographs of both sides of every coin as well as written descriptions and facts about each coin.
Starting to understand the appeal of natural toning (caused by cardboard and PVC plastic packaging that many Franklins were in contact with), particularly the sunset colored toning. I still dislike the insanely dark toning that renders the devices on a coin almost impossible to discern and make out the designs and details (at least in photographs).
For the best toning in this collection check out the 1955 MS65 FBL Bugs Bunny variety and the regular 1955 MS66 FBL issue. I think these two have the most stunning and fascinating toning of all the Franklins in the collection.
Thanks for visiting my Franklin silver half dollar collection! Please check out my completed American Silver Eagle set which has every spot filled and is ranked #37.
