Rose visited the Panama-Pacific Expo in 1915 not long after she first came to America. She purchased these coins as a keepsake. For over 100 years, they stayed with her family. In 2019, her great grandchildren elected to send them in for certification. This is a true time capsule collection and the coins have never been shared with the collecting community since they were purchased...until now.
Complete five-coin sets of Panama-Pacific commemoratives were offered at the Exposition for $200. Owing to their high price by the standards of the day, few sets were sold. The net mintage figure of the Round $50, just 483 pieces, places it among the great rarities of 20th Century American coinage.
